About this blog

If I had somehow landed on this blog my first question would be; who is this guy to tell me how to do my job?

Clearly a fair question. So please let me set the record straight, I do not pretend to have all of the answers.  But I have been in the consulting business in one role or another for a lot of years. You can check out my background and resume on LinkedIn if you are interested. Mark Malone Profile

Over the years most of my experience has been in technology consulting; either selling other consultants’ services for staffing/solutions companies (currently my company, Extolutions) or actively managing consultants onsite with clients as a project manager.  This background has given me a very unique perspective on what employers and clients are really expecting.

I ask for and get very direct feedback.  I am in the business of getting people jobs and I need to know what has gone right or wrong.  I have learned what to look for in a consultant and of more value to you I have recognized some key traits that the best consultants all seem to have in common.

My goal with this dialog is to simply share with you what I have learned. My hope is to help you raise your credibility, value and ultimately your bill rate. We are all in this together when companies hire consultants and they see the value that we can bring and the impact that can be made by a true professional, then they are more likely to continue to hire consultants and the opportunity for everyone improves.

Hopefully we can create a dialogue on the topics.
